At Bowsland Green Primary School, we aim to recognise and celebrate the diverse community in which we serve.
Our school seeks to ensure that all pupils are enabled to have access to a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum and our overall ethos aims to help all pupils integrate into the school whilst valuing pupils’ cultural diversity. As a school with a high percentage of pupil mobility, we welcome new families to our school without prejudice or judgement and ensure that children that enter the school with limited or no English will be given the opportunity to complete assessments and school work in their home language, a program of support for a transition of languages will be implemented when children are secure in their new setting.
There are many reasons why a child may need to start a new school. We are always happy to welcome new children to our school and, as with children joining Reception, all places are allocated by South Gloucestershire Admissions. If you are considering a place at Bowsland Green we want to be able to guide you through the process and would encourage you to do two things before applying.

Firstly, either speak to us or speak to the Admissions team to find out whether we currently have spaces in your child’s year. You can call Admissions on 01454 868008 or email them via the form on their website.
Secondly, come and have a look around our school. You can book an appointment by calling a member of our office team on 01454 866766. They will arrange for a meeting and tour with the Deputy Head teacher who will complete the induction process and welcome you to our school.
If you are offered a place at school and haven’t been able to visit then we will ask you to come and meet with us before your child starts. This will also provide you with an opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher.
Welcome Partners
At Bowsland Green, we have delegated ‘Class Ambassadors’. These elected pupils will have the following responsibilities:
- Class Ambassadors to welcome new joiners and give them a pupil tour of the school.
- Class Ambassadors will support pupils in creating their class leaf, drawer label, peg label etc.
- Class Ambassadors will be ‘trusted friends’ for new joiner pupils at break/lunchtimes and will offer support during unstructured times if required. There is not an expectations of pupils have fixed ‘buddies’ as we hope to promote a wide range of friendships during the induction process.
