Welcome to Beech Class
Year 4 is an exciting stage of the children’s journey through Key Stage Two. It is a year in which they build greater independence, deepen their understanding and develop the confidence to approach increasingly challenging learning.
Our classroom is a purposeful and supportive place where children are encouraged to be curious, contribute their ideas and take responsibility for their learning. We recognise effort and improvement, celebrate achievements and help children understand that mistakes are a valuable part of becoming successful learners.
Throughout the year, children develop their reading fluency and comprehension by exploring a broad range of texts. They learn to communicate their ideas through increasingly detailed and carefully structured writing. In maths, children strengthen their understanding of number, calculation, fractions and measurement while applying their knowledge through reasoning and problem-solving. Developing quick and confident recall of multiplication facts is also an important part of Year 4.
Our wider curriculum provides opportunities for children to investigate, debate, create and discover. Through science, history, geography, art, computing and other subjects, children deepen their knowledge of the world and make meaningful connections between different areas of learning.
Our school vision, Empowering Excellence; Daring to Dream, is at the heart of life in Beech Class. We encourage every child to:
- Be brave by contributing ideas, tackling challenges and persevering
- Be proud of their effort, presentation, progress and achievements
- Be kind by respecting others, offering support and making thoughtful choices
- Be part of a team by listening, cooperating and helping everyone to succeed
Meet the Beech Class team

- Mrs Browne – Inclusion Team
Families can support learning by reading regularly with their child, discussing unfamiliar vocabulary and practising multiplication facts little and often.
Please check Class Dojo for curriculum updates, important reminders and photographs celebrating the children’s learning and achievements.
We are looking forward to a successful year filled with challenge, creativity and memorable experiences in Beech Class.
